Review: NuSkin’s Glacial Marine Mud Mask

‘The Miracle Mask’ – Does it live up to all the hype?

If anyone has read my first blog “Hello Blogging World” you’ll know I am partnered with NuSkin, therefore I will be reviewing the products as I have access to them. I do love a lot of our products, but I will give the honest opinion on all of them. If you wish to purchase, feel free to Contact me for 10% off (UK ONLY).

A bit about the product

“A simple and natural way to softer, smoother toned skin. Revitalising clay mask with sea botanicals draws out dirt and impurities from the skin. Contains extremely fine mud particles and leaves skin feeling fresh, renewed and healthy-looking. Suitable for all skin types. Glacial Marine Mud – deposited in a remote estuary in British Columbia, this fine clay absorbs dead cells, excess oil and other impurities.” – Nuskin.com.
So what most people don’t know is, nuskin have EXCLUSIVE rights to this mud, meaning we are the only ones that can make this mud mask. It comes in a really nice bottle with a tamper seal.

How to use

Shake the bottle for about 10-20 seconds to make sure the mud and other ingredients are mixed. Apply with your hand or brush all over face, with a thin layer covering anywhere you find necessary avoiding the eye area like every other brand. Leave on face until it turns a light green colour everywhere. You can use this on body and face, and you can put it the bath for a total skin detox!

When it is all dry you can reactivate it with our Moisture Mist which is mineralised to benefit skin, or with a water mist to pull out even more dirt and oil. Or, just wash of with warm water. It is water activated so washes off like a dream!

The review

So this product claims to draw out dirt, oil and impurities from your skin and deposits over 40 minerals back into your skin leaving your skin feeling smooth and looking clean. It definitely works. If you look at the slideshow below, you’ll see some result photos. when it turns light green you should see a number of things

  • oil – sparse areas of product where the green looks faded, watered down or not dry. This is the oil sat on top of the mask and no longer in your skin
  • dirt – small dark spots in pore areas. this is the dirt that has been pulled out from each pore
  • undried spot – if you put this on top of a spot, you’ll see it will not dry as much as other areas, this is because the mask can’t push minerals into a spot. It will however dry it out and remove the dirt from the spot making it disappear after a few hours

Honestly…

So heres the deal, this mud mask is great, but on my skin it isn’t much use. It is suitable for all skin types, but I have normal to dry skin, and therefore my skin can feel a little bit dried out by this mask. The first time you use it, or if you haven’t used it in a long time, your skin can look red / feel a little hot. It looks a lot like a reaction because it is. Your skin will have never had these products and minerals in it before, so it reacts to the dirt being pulled out and stuff being put back in. After one use this wont happen again because your skin has already had the minerals in it. The redness will also calm down after about 5 minutes so it isn’t anything to worry about.

It does make your skin feel like a million dollars, and I’ve seen the results on people with oily skin and it is so gross to see all of the oil be pulled out, but my golly gosh is it satisfying.
